For at sikre at skabet fungerer som det skal, bør man sikre at: • skabet placeres på et tørt, koldt sted, der ikke er udsat for direkte sollys. • skabet ikke er anbragt i nærheden af en varmekilde, fx et komfur eller opvaskemaskine. • rummet som skabet er anbragt i har en temperatur mellem +10°C og +32°C. • skabet står oprejst og hviler på alle fire fødder/hjul. Skabet bør ikke læne op ad en væg. Om nødvendigt indstilles fødderne med den medfølgende indstillingsnøgle. • der er god ventilation rundt om skabet, og at luftkanalerne under og bag skabet ikke er blokerede. Mellemrummet til ventilation over skabet og et evt. overskab skal mindst være 200 cm² . Mellemrummet til ventilationen kan enten være a) direkte over skabet, eller b) bagved og over skabet. I disse tilfælde skal mellemrummet bag skabet være mindst 50 mm. Hvis skabet er anbragt i et hjørne, og den hængslede side vender ind mod væggen, skal der være en afstand på mindst 10 mm mellem væggen og skabet for at døren skal kunne åbnes tilstrækkeligt til at hylderne kan tages ud.
