I purchased the unit from a private party and the original owners manual was not available. Having the ability to download it was extremely helpful and clarified operating the equipment immensely. This is a complicated unit and without the manual I would not have been able to maximize it's potential. Thank you.
Assembly Instructions
This Plinth System has been designed so that SME Precision Pick-up Arms may be assembled with a wide range of turntables using only simple tools.
Turntable and Pick-up Arm
The motor board is supplied cut and drilled to accept the turntable and pick-up mountings and it is only necessary to screw the components in place and adjust according to the manufacturers instructions. Garrard Turntables 301 and 401 require an SME P.1 Spacer Thorens Turntables are supplied with a pick-up mounting board which can be cut to receive the Model 3009. Alternatively purpose made boards are available from SME to mount either of our arms. Thorens TD.125 turntables require mounting kit PS.2000/TD.125 obtainable from SME Ltd. Thorens TD.150. The motor board has been cut so that the mounting plate of the turntable is flush with the surface of the motor board. A set of mounting blocks PS.2000/TD.150 is supplied and these should be attached as shown on the Thorens Mounting Template.
Spring Mounting
The diagram shows the assembly sequence. Screw down the spindle into the spring bush until its end is flush with that of the spring bush. Insert plain end of spindle into motor board bush so that the board rests on the washer and circlip. Assemble knob on spindle making sure that the flat is aligned with the flat in the knob moulding. Check that the spindle knob rotates freely in the bush and apply oil sparingly if required.
Assembly of Motor Board in Base
For ease of handling it is advisable to remove the turntable platter from the turntable unit before attempting to lower the motor board into the base. Thread the mains lead and the audio lead from the inside of the base through the holes provided at the rear. Carefully lower the motor board assembly into the
