The service was quick and simple, finding the service manual easy and it appears to be the original with colour schematics. It contained the info I was after and so sorted the problem.
I have copied it to CD and attached the envelope to the inside back cover of the owners manual. Good manual and excelent service. Robin Wood, Wood Electronics, New Zealand.

Note:
Mackie HR824 make extensive use of surface mount devices (SMD). Service on the HR824 must
only be undertaken by experienced service technicians with the right tools, experience and patience to perform surface mount rework when needed.

This Service manual is very well scanned and its clean to read, no any anti-theft words that un-english could understand. I got my CCD600 working with this manual and it´s clear shematics :)
CUT OFF, BKGD, SUB-CONT ADJUSTMENT
No. Adjustment point 3 MAX BEAM R1759 Adjustment Condition / Procedure 1. Receive the Monoscope pattern signal with standard mode. 2. Make the image normal with the remote controller. 3. Connect the beam ammeter between TP1601 and TP1602. Ammeter full scale: 3mA range Connect the TP1602 to the - side of the ammeter. Connect the TP1601 to the + side of the ammeter. 4. Adjust the beam current to 1.6mA ± 50µA with R1759 (sub-contrast VR). Note: Apply the adjustment after aging with the beam current 1,500 ± 50µA or more for 30 min or more. SUBBRIGHTNESS ADJUSMENT (I2C BUS CONTROL) (RF SIGNAL)
1. Receive the window pattern signal with AV input. 2. Make the image normal with the remote controller. 3. Select the sub-bright adjustment mode with the remote controller, and adjust the right dark white area of the window pattern to 2.7 ± 0.3cd.
* Receive the crosshatch pattern signal or equivalent signal. 1. Make the image normal with the remote controller. 2. Adjust the 3rd (1 thru 5 from the left) black of the window pattern to sink. 2 FOCUS ADJUSTMENT 1. Receive the Monoscope pattern signal. 2. With the remote controller, make the image normal. 3. Adjust the focus VR to make the vertical line of "5" in "E-5" display upper left part of screen as fine as possible.
However, if it is largely deviated when it is checked in the 60Hz mode, readjust it in the 60Hz mode.

SUBCONTRAST I2C BUS ADJUSTMENT (RF SIGNAL)
1. Receive the window pattern signal with AV input. 2. Make the image normal with the remote controller. 3. Select the SUB-CONTRAST adjustment mode with the remote controller, and adjust 50% white to 110 ± 3cd.
Note: Use "Y" of Minolta colour analyzer CA-100 in adjustment.
