When replacing the TG-121 or TG-163 board with a new one, remove the PROM on the new board and replace it with the PROM that was mounted on the former TG-121 or TG-163 board. TG-121 board (B side) : IC2 TG-163 board (A side) : IC11 Note in Replacing a PROM To remove a PROM, remove its socket frame. This socket frame is so fragile. When removing the socket frame, therefore, it is recommended to use a special removing tool listed below. If it is not available, use a small slotted screwdriver or similar item as a substitute for it. To remove the socket frame by using a screwdriver, proceed as follows. IC socket removing tool: Sony part No. J-6394-110-A Socket frame: Sony part No. 1-540-194-12 Removing a socket frame (by using a screwdriver) Insert the screwdriver as shown in the figure and push it lightly in the direction of the arrow to unhook the frame socket.
