On Canadian models only: The SmoothtopCooktop willI not operate during a clean cycle.This is normal. I The self-clean oven uses temperatures above normal cookingtemperaturesto automaticallyclean the entireoven interior. CAUTION: It is normal for parts of the range to becomeJ hot during a clean cycle. Therefore,during a clean cycle,J avoid touching the cooktop, oven vent area, oven door and w ndow. It is betterto cleanthe oven regularlyratherthan to wait until there is a heavy build-up of soil in the oven. Turnoffthe oven lightbeforea clean cycle.If the oven light is left on, the lightbulb will burn outduringthe clean cycle.

Whenthe doorislockedandthe oven issetfor a clean cycle, the oven will automatically begin to heat to cleaning temperatures. As the oven reachescleaningtemperatures,an internallock mechanismwJJJ engage.At this point, the oven doorcan not be unlocked and opened. To prevent damage to the door and lock lever, do not force the door openwhen the internal lock has engaged. The first few times the oven is cleaned, some smoke and odor may be detected. This is normal and will lessen or disappear with use. if the oven is heavily soiled, or if the broiler pan was accidently left in the oven, smoke and odor may occur. As the oven heatsand cools,you may hearsounds of metal parts expandingand contracting.This is normaland will not damageyour appliance.

The porcelainfinish may discolor if acid spills are not wiped up immediately, Do not use oven cleaners on the self-clean oven finish or aroundanypartoftheovenastheywilldamagethefinishor parts, To prevent damage, do not clean or rub the gasket around the ovendoor. The gasketis designedto seal in heatduring the clean cycle.

Aboutone hourafterthe endofthe cleancycle,the internal lockwill disengage.At this point,the door can be unlocked and opened.Movethe door lock leverto the left or unlocked position and openthe door. The oven may still be hot. Somesoil may leave a light gray,powderyash which canbe removed with a damp cloth. If soil remains, it indicatesthat the clean cycle was not long enough. The soil will be removed during the next clean cycle. If the oven racks were left in the oven and do not slide smoothlyaftera clean cycle,wipe racks and embossedrack supportswith a smallamountofvegetableoilto restoreease of movement. Clean around the oven vent opening at the rear of the cooktopifthere isa depositfrom the fumesventedduringthe clean cycle. Use detergent and water and a cloth or non-abrasive pad. Fine,hair-like lines may appear in the oven interioror oven door. This is a normal condition resulting from heating and cooling of the porcelain finish.These lines do not affect the performanceof the oven.
