OVERVIEW
There have been reports of 7.1 and 5.1 amplifiers shutting down when connected with 4-conductor speaker cable. The configuration of cable is frequently used to drive the 5.3 and 7.3 dual feed surround speakers. Citation amplifiers are ultra-wide bandwidth circuit designs. When this design is connected to long lengths of 4-conductor speaker wire, the output of one channel may leak into the ground of the ground of the adjacent channel through the cable, causing an amplifier to oscillate and go into protection. This is caused by the proximity of multiple conductors within a single wire sleeve.
PARTS
A 22uf capacitor needs to be installed between the negative terminals of the amplifier. The diagram below shows the location.
INSTALLING
Below is a diagram that shows how to connect the 22uf capacitor. If you should have further questions regarding the hook-up of these devices, please contact the customer support department at (860) 346-0896.
22uf capacitor connects between the negative of each pair of channels.
Speaker wire connection should be hooked up as usual.
