Thanks so much for the Owner's manual for my Sony PS - FL1. I had purchased the turntable off of eBay. It came in and looked great. Packed well and appeared to be great. I balanced and aligned the tone are and hooked it up. When trying to play a record the tone are would move to the right place and just before it would drop to play it moved back off the edge of the record before touching down. I searched the net for an answer to this issue. No luck. Then I purchased the owners manual and sure enough there was a place to adjust where the stylus touched down. That adjustment solved the problem and saved me a $35 feet to have the player checked out. The manual is well written and easy to understand. It is a must have for anyone with this front loading Sony turntable.

Some years back I pruchased a Sansui G-9000. I had it cleaned up and a problem with the left channel repaired. When I got it back I hooked it up to my tape decks, turn tables, TV and it played great. The only thing I was not really satisfied with was the performance of my Graphic Equalizer. I purchased this owner's manual had poured myself a cup of coffee. The manual is well organized and written in plain language. It also contained the solution to my dissatisfaction. By using the preamp connections coupled I was able to run everything through my graphic equalizer and now enjoy the full potential of my complete system.

An excellent service for the price, however, it would also have been handy if the troubleshooter pages were included. The manual is only sent in the language of your country, thus it looks as though there are some pages missing. Otherwise highly recommended.

Initial Settings menu
Using the Initial Settings menu
The Initial Settings menu provides audio and video output settings, parental lock settings, and display settings, among others. If an option is grayed out it means that it cannot be changed at the current time. This is usually because a disc is playing. Stop the disc, then change the setting. 1 Press HOME MENU and select �Initial Settings�.

Note � In the table below, the default option is marked with a �. � The Digital Audio Out settings only need to be set if you have connected the digital output of this player to an AV receiver, or other equipment. � Check the operating instructions supplied with your other equipment to see which digital audio formats it�s compatible with. � Some settings, such as TV Screen, Audio Language and Subtitle Language may be overridden by the DVD disc. Often these settings can also be made from the DVD disc menu. � The HDMI Out and HDMI Color settings only need to be set if you connected this player to an HDMI-compatible component using the HDMI connector. � The Digital Audio Out, AV Connector Out and Speakers settings cannot be set if the player is connected to an HDMIcompatible component using the HDMI connector. Additionally, these settings may be changed automatically.

Digital Audio Out settings
Setting HDMI Out Option LPCM (2CH) LPCM (5.1CH) What it means Set if your monitor or device only accepts stereo input. On this setting multichannel audio is downmixed to 2 channels for stereo linear PCM output. Set if the monitor or device you have connected using HDMI is compatible with Liner PCM multichannel formats. All audio signals are output as linear PCM 5.1 format. (Use this setting if you want to decode all streams by a player.) Dolby Digital, DTS, MPEG and SACD sources are processed according to how they were encoded, and linear PCM sources are heard as is. No HDMI audio output. Choose this option when you want to change the Digital Audio Out and Speakers settings. Digital audio is output from the digital outputs. Note that there is no digital output when playing SACDs and some DVD-Audio discs regardless of this setting. No digital audio output. Dolby Digital encoded digital audio is output when playing a Dolby Digital DVD disc. Dolby Digital audio is converted to PCM audio before being output. DTS encoded digital audio is output when playing a DTS disc. (Noise will be output if your amplifier/receiver is not compatible with DTS audio.) No digital audio is output when playing a DTS disc.DTS audio is converted to PCM audio before being output. 96 kHz digital audio is converted to 48 kHz for digital output. Note that High sampling rate DVD-Audio discs (192 kHz or 176.4 kHz) automatically output downsampled audio through the digital outputs. 96 kHz digital audio is output as is at 96 kHz. MPEG encoded digital audio is output as is. MPEG encoded digital audio is converted to PCM audio for digital output.
