2. DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS
1. PAPER HANDLING
The paper size slider slot for detecting paper size for the 1st paper tray differs from that for the 2nd paper tray. Basically, the 1st tray is equipped with a slider mainly for the use of inch-based paper sizes, and the 2nd tray is equipped with a slider mainly for the use of metric paper sizes. The following shows the available paper sizes for each paper tray. First Tray: 11" x 17" lengthwise, 81/2" x 11" sideways / lengthwise, 81/2" x 14" lengthwise, 51/2" x 81/2" sideways, 11" x 15" lengthwise, 10" x 14" lengthwise, 8" x 10" lengthwise, 81/2" x 13" lengthwise, A4 sideways / lengthwise
Second Tray: A3 lengthwise, B4 lengthwise, A4 sideways / lengthwise, B5 sideways / lengthwise, A5 sideways, 11" x 17" lengthwise , 81/2" x 11" sideways / lengthwise, *81/2" x 121/2" lengthwise *When setting this size of paper in the paper tray, select the "*" slot of the paper size slider and use the special end fence (this is one of the copier accessories). If a paper size other than 81/2" x 121/2" lengthwise is set while selecting the "*" slot, paper misfeeds might occur. Also note the following points: � � � The first tray can be set up to accommodate one of a wider range of paper sizes by using SP5-019-008. This is the same as with the base copier. For the optional paper tray units, paper sizes can only be selected with UP or SP mode (there is no slider), and only LT version (inch sizes) can be selected. 216 mm x 340 mm lengthwise paper which is used mainly in the Mexican market can be fed from the first tray. When using this paper, set the paper size slider to the "*" slot.
2. MM/INCH SELECTION
The original sizes that the machine can detect in Auto Paper Select (APS) or Auto Reduce/Enlarge (ARE) mode can be selected by user tool No. 35 or SP4-904. When this setting is changed to �mm�, the copier will detect sizes in the same way as the European machines. For more details on the related SP modes, refer to the SP mode section that follows.
