Having bought a pre-owned Sony FM stereo tuner through eBay, it came without any manuals. It soon became clear that to get the best from this excellent tuner I needed a decent manual because much of the operation was not intuitive to a newboy to hi fi like me. I managed to download the official Sony multi-lingual manual from Owner-Manuals.com with no problem at all - a really quick and easy service. I'm very glad I did because I found out all the operations of the tuner and was then able to not only set it up quickly but also to get much more from it that poke-and-hope trialling would ever achieve. In my book $4.99 very well spent.

This manual is immaculate in it's accuracy. Everything is written very clearly and easy to understand. Written by a professional who wants to convey a clear and easy to understand message!!

This Manual (as downloaded) is both informative and comprehensive and has proved to be extremely useful. thoroughly recommended.

Troubleshooting Guide
PROBLEM
No sound can be heard, or the volume is low.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Attenuator is turned on. The fader or balance settings are set all the way to one side. The input/output wires or wiring harness are connected incorrectly. The cassette tape is bad. The values of Volume offset are low. Turn off Attenuator.
SOLUTION
Reset the fader or balance settings. Reconnect the input/output wires or the wiring harness correctly. See the section on "Connecting Wires to Terminals". Try playing another cassette tape. If works fine, the first tape was bad. Increase the values of Volume offset. (see p. 7) Press the Eject button.
The tape does not go in. / No sound can be heard even though the tape display is made. The sound quality is poor or distorted.
The car ignition was turned off during tape eject; or the tape was pulled out during loading, switching the mode to tape mode even though no tape is in. The tape head is dirty. One of the speaker wires is being pinched by a screw in the car. The speakers are not wired correctly.
Clean the tape head, referring to the section on "Cleaning the tape head" (see p. 4). Check the speaker wiring. Reconnect the speaker wires so that each output terminal is connected to a different speaker. The tape can only be removed within 10 minutes of the ACC switch being turned OFF. If more than 10 minutes has elapsed, turn the ACC switch ON again and press the Eject button.
Cant remove tape.
The cause is that more than 10 minutes has elapsed since the vehicle ACC switch was turned OFF.
