I Recently purchased yet another Service Manual from Owner-Manuals.com, this time for a Sony EVS700ES/UB Videocassette Recorder. The Manual was available for upload within two hours and is an Extremely Good copy, as some of this I was able to enlarge to get even better detail.
Once Again, Very happy with the result!

Reading the Display: Convert the hexadecimal display into binary display. If more than two causes, they will be added. Example When 84 is displayed: Higher bit : 8 = 1000 n b7 Lower bit : 4 = 0100 n b2 In this case, as b2 and b7 are 1 and others are 0, it can be determined that the retry cause is combined of emphasis OFF, monaural, original, copyright exists, and write allowed. Example When 07 is displayed: Higher bit : 0 = 1000 n All 0 Lower bit : 7 = 0111 n b0+b1+b2 In this case, as b0, b1, and b2 are 1 and others are 0, it can be determined that the retry cause is combined of emphasis ON, stereo, original, copyright exists, and write prohibited.
