8. Firmware update using the USB cable
Preparation: the latest firmware PDR-M60 AC adapter USB cable Method: 1. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the DIGITAL terminal of the camera and the large end of the USB cable to the USB port on your personal computer. <Refer to the photograph, DIGITAL connection, on page 89 in the instruction manual> 2. Insert the AC adapter and set the mode dial to [PC mode]. <Refer to the photograph, mode dial on page 89 in the instruction manual> 3. Startup the update firmware FWUPLOAD.EXE. * The update can not be performed completely if you switch the mode dial while starting up. * Do not perform with another application simultaneously. 4. The finder lamp lights in red while downloading and [Uploading firmware... Please wait] is displayed on the personal computer.
9. Firmware update using the SmartMedia
Preparation: SmartMedia with the latest [fware64.bin] copied PDR-M60 AC adapter Method: Be sure to turn the camera to [OFF], remove the batteries and pull out the AC adapter before starting update. 1. Insert the SmartMedia with the latest [fware64.bin] copied to the camera and connect the AC adapter. <Refer to the photograph, SM insertion, on page 30 in the instruction manual > 2. Press the shutter button while the beep sounds continuously with the mode dial set to [OFF] to start the update. 3. The beep sounds again after finishing the update, and then the power turns off. 4. Pull out the SmartMedia and perform [DEFAULT] [OK] of [SET-UP mode] to confirm whether the firmware is updated to the latest version. <Refer to the photograph, [SET-UP]-[DEFAULT] setting screen> Note: Do not use the SmartMedia used for the update to shoot the image. Do not press any buttons, move mode dial and pull out the AC adapter before the update is finished and the power turns off after pushing the shutter button in the step 2.
5. Beep sounds after finishing the download and [Firmware successfully loaded.] is displayed on the personal computer.
10. Emergency update
Update is performed again after repairing when the update have not succeeded. Preparation: Firmware for update PDR-M60 AC adapter USB cable Method: 1. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the DIGITAL terminal of the camera and the large end of the USB cable to the USB port on your personal computer after removing the batteries and pulling out the AC adapter. <Refer to the photograph, DIGITAL connection, on page 89 in the instruction manual> 2. Set the mode dial to [PC mode]. <Refer to the photograph, mode dial on page 89 in the instruction manual> 3. Insert the AC adapter with [DISP] key and [Wide] key pushed simultaneously. <Refer to the photograph, [DISP] key and [Wide] key display> 4. After blinking the finder lamp in orange, perform the update from the procedures after 1-3) when using the USB cable perform and from the procedures after 2-2) when using the SmartMedia. � 15 �
6. Pull out the USB cable after turning the power to [OFF] and perform [DEFAULT]-[OK] of [SET-UP] to confirm whether the firmware is updated to the latest version. <Refer to the photograph, [SETUP]-[DEFAULT] setting screen>
