Thanks so much for the Owner's manual for my Sony PS - FL1. I had purchased the turntable off of eBay. It came in and looked great. Packed well and appeared to be great. I balanced and aligned the tone are and hooked it up. When trying to play a record the tone are would move to the right place and just before it would drop to play it moved back off the edge of the record before touching down. I searched the net for an answer to this issue. No luck. Then I purchased the owners manual and sure enough there was a place to adjust where the stylus touched down. That adjustment solved the problem and saved me a $35 feet to have the player checked out. The manual is well written and easy to understand. It is a must have for anyone with this front loading Sony turntable.

Some years back I pruchased a Sansui G-9000. I had it cleaned up and a problem with the left channel repaired. When I got it back I hooked it up to my tape decks, turn tables, TV and it played great. The only thing I was not really satisfied with was the performance of my Graphic Equalizer. I purchased this owner's manual had poured myself a cup of coffee. The manual is well organized and written in plain language. It also contained the solution to my dissatisfaction. By using the preamp connections coupled I was able to run everything through my graphic equalizer and now enjoy the full potential of my complete system.

An excellent service for the price, however, it would also have been handy if the troubleshooter pages were included. The manual is only sent in the language of your country, thus it looks as though there are some pages missing. Otherwise highly recommended.

Disc Handling
Handling precautions
� Sticking a label on the disc may impair DVDR playback. � Do not attach sticker to disc. (Do not use discs with exposed adhesive from tape or left over peeled-off stickers.) � Only hold disc by edges as shown at right. Fingerprints, dirt and scratches can cause skipping and distortion. � Do not write on label side of disc. � Never use record cleaning sprays, benzine, thinner, static electricity prevention liquids, or any other solvent. � Do not try to close disc tray when disc is not properly placed.
Playing DVDs
The producer of these discs can control how they are played so you may not always be able to control play as described in these operating instructions. Read the disc�s instructions carefully.
DVD-R discs
Panasonic DVD-R recorded and finalized* on a Panasonic DVD video recorder are played as DVD-Video on this unit.
DVD-RAM discs
DVD-RAM discs must meet the following conditions for this unit to be able to play them.
Type � Non-cartridge discs � Discs that can be removed from their cartridges (TYPE 2 and 4) � 12 cm (5�) 9.4 GB (double-sided) and 4.7 GB (single-sided) � 8 cm (3�) 2.8 GB (double-sided)

� Remove TYPE 2 and 4 discs from their cartridges before use, then return them when you are finished. Read the instructions for the disc carefully. TYPE 2 or 4 disc Non-cartridge disc
To clean disc surface
With a soft, damp (water only) cloth, gently wipe from the center hole to the outer edge as shown below. (Wiping in a circular pattern will scratch the surface.)
DVD-RAM, DVD-R :
Clean only with DVD-RAM disc cleaner. Never use cloths or cleaners for CDs, etc.
� Some parts of the disc, for example where one program ends and another begins, may not play smoothly.
CD-R and CD-RW discs
This unit can play CD-R and CD-RW if they are formatted as CDDA (digital audio) and finalized*.
* A process that allows play on compatible equipment.
If disc is brought from a cold to a warm environment, moisture may form on the disc Wipe away moisture with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth before using disc. (See above.) Improper disc storage Discs can be damaged if stored or left in areas:
� Exposed to direct sunlight. � That are humid or dusty. � Near heat (i.e. heater, radiator, etc.).
Region Management Information
This unit is designed and manufactured to respond to the Region Management Information that is recorded on a DVD disc. If the Region number described on the DVD disc does not correspond to the Region number of this unit, this unit cannot play this disc. For U.S.A. and Canada
� The region number of this player is �1�. � The player will play DVD-Video marked with labels bearing �1� or �ALL�.
Getting Started
Information (MAIN MENU Screen)
In the Main Menu display, only icons which can be selected appear normally while those not available appear dark. Example: When the unit is used for the first time, the DVD icon is dark because it cannot be selected in this condition (see right). However, when DVD is pressed to enter DVD mode, the DVD icon becomes selectable.
