The TEAC A-1500's Service Manual was instrumental in reviving this classic reel-to-reel. Not only does it have the schematics, exploded parts diagram and parts list, it also provided mechanical adjustment information that approximate factory default settings.
NW-HD3 SECTION 4 TEST MODE
1. OUTLINE For the LCD display, the LCD on the main unit is shown, but the contents of LCD display on the remote commander are same. Operation in the test mode is performed with the main unit. A key having no particular description in the text, indicates a main unit key. Power supply voltage Volume SOUND EQ AVLS [HOLD] switch Set states : 3.65 to 3.75 V : 27 : OFF : OFF : OFF : horizontal states 5. OPERATION OF THE TEST MODE 5-1. Power 5-1-1. Power supply voltage check This mode is used in case power supply voltage in the state where all power supply lines (1.2 V/1.5 V/1.8 V/2.0 V/2.4 V/3.3 V/VSTBY/ VDC) are starting is checked. Checking method: 1. Enter the test mode. 2. Press the , key to display major item, and press the M m key to select the �POWER�.

2. SETTING THE TEST MODE 1. Supply power to the set. 2. Switch-on the [HOLD] switch on the main unit. 3. Switch-off the [HOLD] switch on the main unit and enter the test mode. 3. RELEASING THE TEST MODE Press the [MENU] key on the main unit or x key on the remote commander for 1.5 seconds or more, turn off the power and release the test mode. 4. CONFIGURATION OF THE TEST MODE Flow of the test mode:

5. Press the [MODE] key, �HD ON� or �HD OFF� is displayed. In this state, each time [MODE] key is pressed, hard disk drive power supply ON/OFF switch is performed.

6. Press the [MENU] key, return to minor item selection screen. 5-1-2. Consumption current (read state) check This mode is used in case consumption current (read state) in the state where the hard disk drive has booted is checked. Checking method: 1. Enter the test mode. 2. Press the , key to display major item, and press the M m key to select the �POWER�.
